Trains are Sri Lanka's main adventure. Kandy-Ella route — one of the most beautiful in the world: tea plantations, mountains, waterfalls. Trains ALWAYS 20-40 min late. 2nd class is optimal — seats, comfortable. Tickets cost pennies. Buses are cheap but noisy with aggressive driving. Taxi via PickMe/Uber ~100₨/km — registration only with local SIM. Tuk-tuks only for short distances.

Gesundheit

No mandatory vaccinations for most travelers. Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Rabies vaccines recommended. Sri Lanka is malaria-free since 2016, but dengue fever is present - use mosquito repellent. Tap water is not safe to drink. Travel insurance with medical evacuation is strongly recommended.
