Unfinished Obelisk
The Unfinished Obelisk is a unique window into pharaonic stonecutting techniques. This massive granite shaft commissioned under Hatshepsut would have been Egypt's largest obelisk at 42 meters and 1,200 tons if completed. A crack in the rock was discovered during carving, and the project was abandoned. Today visitors can see chisel marks and ancient techniques used 3,500 years ago, still visible in the bedrock.
