Tombs of the Nobles
The Tombs of the Nobles (Qubbet el-Hawa) is a collection of rock-cut tombs carved into hillsides overlooking the Nile from the West Bank. Dating to the Old and Middle Kingdoms (2300-1900 BC), they contain tombs of Aswan governors and court officials. Walls are decorated with colorful paintings of daily life, hunting, and religious rites. The climb through sand rewards with stunning views of Aswan and the Nile.
