Temple of Kalabsha
Temple of Kalabsha is the largest freestanding Nubian temple, relocated block by block from its original site 50 km away to an artificial island near the High Dam in the 1960s. Built by Roman Emperor Augustus around 30 BC for the Nubian god Mandulis, it combines Egyptian and Greco-Roman elements. The site also includes the Kiosk of Qertassi and the rock-cut Beit el-Wali temple, one of Ramesses II's earliest temples.
