Schlenkerla Smokebeer Brewery
Schlenkerla is a historic brewpub dating back to 1405, famous for producing authentic Rauchbier (smoked beer). Run by the Trum family in the 6th generation, it still taps smoked beer from oak wood barrels according to old tradition. The building features a Gothic vaulted ceiling known as the Dominikanerklause. Their beer has been designated a passenger in Slow Food's Ark of Taste as one of only two breweries worldwide still making traditional Rauchbier. The kitchen serves Franconian dishes including the famous Schlenkerla Haxe (pork knuckle in smoked beer sauce). Don't miss the beer garden in good weather.
