Oude Delft Canal
Oude Delft is the city's oldest canal - its name literally means 'Old Delft' - and has formed the historic heart of the city since medieval times. It is lined with elegant 17th-century houses featuring characteristic step gables and ancient linden trees. The canal was a vital trade artery, with flat-bottomed boats transporting goods, fuel, and people. Today it is one of the city's most beautiful streets for walking, with picturesque views including historic houses, elegant bridges, and the Oude Kerk.
