Catedral de São Nicolau
St. Nicholas Cathedral (Ljubljana Cathedral) is the main Roman Catholic cathedral of Ljubljana and one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Slovenia. Originally a Gothic church from the 13th century, it was completely rebuilt in Baroque style between 1701-1706 by Italian architect Andrea Pozzo. The cathedral is famous for its magnificent green dome visible across the city, stunning frescoes by Giulio Quaglio depicting the life of St. Nicholas, and two remarkable bronze doors added in 1996 commemorating 1250 years of Christianity in Slovenia.
