The Villa of the Mysteries is one of the best-preserved Roman villas outside Pompeii's walls, famous for its exceptional frescoes depicting mysterious religious rituals, possibly related to the cult of Dionysus. The deep red fresco spanning the walls of an entire room shows ritual scenes with life-sized figures and is considered one of the greatest treasures of Roman art.
