The House of the Faun is the largest and most luxurious private residence in Pompeii, covering an entire city block (about 3,000 sqm). Named after the bronze dancing faun statue in the atrium. It contained the famous Alexander Mosaic (now in Naples National Museum) depicting the Battle of Issus between Alexander and Darius.
