The Pearl-Qatar is an artificial island shaped like a pearl, a symbol of luxury living in Doha. Built on the site of former pearl diving grounds, the 4 square kilometer island houses residential complexes, boutiques, restaurants, and yacht marinas.
History and Concept
Construction began in 2004 in the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf. The name references Qatar's history as a pearl diving center. This is the first project in the country where foreigners can own property. Construction costs exceeded 15 billion dollars.
