Zagreb Cathedral
Zagreb Cathedral (Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) is the tallest building in Croatia and the most prominent landmark on Zagreb's skyline. Construction began in the 11th century and it has been rebuilt multiple times. Severely damaged in the March 2020 earthquake, it was closed for reconstruction. A new earthquake-resistant steel spine has been installed at a cost of 42 million EUR, making it safe for worshippers. Reopening for worship and visitors is expected soon, though full tower restoration (from 73.6m back to 108m) will take up to 10 more years with 4,000 stone pieces scanned and labeled for precise reconstruction
