Wieliczka Salt Mine
Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the world's oldest salt mines, operating since the 13th century and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It extends 135 meters underground with 3.5 kilometers of corridors open to visitors. The crown jewel is St. Kinga's Chapel, carved entirely from salt including chandeliers, sculptures, and wall reliefs. The temperature remains a constant 14-16 degrees Celsius year-round. The tourist route involves descending about 800 steps and exploring carved chambers and underground lakes. There is also a more adventurous Miner's Route with narrow tunnels and steep ladders. Located 14 kilometers southeast of Krakow center, easily reachable by train or bus in 30 minutes
