Nowa Huta
Nowa Huta is a model socialist city built in 1949 by Stalin's order as an ideal workers' town and the ideological opposite of historic Krakow. It features wide boulevards, monumental socialist realist architecture, and a central square now named after Ronald Reagan. The Ark of the Lord Church built in 1977 despite communist opposition is a symbol of popular resistance. The district offers a unique window into communist urban planning and is one of the best-preserved examples in Europe. Explore it with free walking tours or the distinctive Trabant car tours. Located 20 minutes by tram from the Old Town
