White City
White City is a collection of over 4,000 buildings in the International Bauhaus style from the 1930s, built by German-Jewish architects who fled the Nazis. Tel Aviv has the largest number of Bauhaus buildings in the world. In 2003, UNESCO declared the White City a World Cultural Heritage site as an outstanding example of modern urban planning and early 20th-century architecture. The Bauhaus Center at 77 Dizengoff Street offers tours, exhibitions, and a shop with maps to key buildings. Main streets include Rothschild Boulevard, Shenkin, and Nachmani. The unique adaptation of international style to the local climate makes this area a living urban museum worth exploring on foot with architectural details on every corner.
