University Library Tower
The University Library of Leuven is a symbol of resilience - destroyed in both World Wars and rebuilt each time. Its 87-meter tower in neo-Flemish style was designed with American donations after WWI. The carillon with 63 bells plays enchanting melodies. Climb 289 steps to the observation platform for panoramic views over Leuven. Along the way, a permanent exhibition tells the library and city's history. Carillon concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are highlights for visitors. The building now stands as a symbol of European peace. The library houses over 4 million books.
