October to February offers cooler weather for climbing the steps. Arrive early morning to avoid crowds and afternoon fog. The cable car may close during strong winds or typhoons. Weekdays are significantly less crowded than weekends.
Take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car from MTR Tung Chung Station (Tung Chung Line). The ride takes 25 minutes. Alternative: Bus 23 from Tung Chung (slower but cheaper).

The best photos are from the bottom of the 268 steps looking up at the Buddha. For panoramic shots including the monastery, use the viewing platform at Ngong Ping Village. The Wisdom Path nearby offers serene forest photos with wooden steles.
