St. Thomas Church is the final resting place of composer Johann Sebastian Bach, who led its famous choir for 27 years until his death in 1750. Founded in 1212, the church is home to the renowned Thomanerchor, one of the oldest boys' choirs in the world. The interior features a magnificent organ and hosts regular Bach concerts.

Visit on Friday or Saturday at 6pm for Thomanerchor performances. Sunday services at 9:30am feature the choir.

Bach's grave is located in the chancel in front of the altar, marked by a bronze plaque. His remains were transferred here in 1950.
