Takayama Jinya
Takayama Jinya is Japan's only remaining provincial government building from the Edo period, where shogunate officials administered the Hida region from 1692 to 1868. The sprawling complex features 67 rooms including courtrooms with original torture instruments, rice storehouses, tax offices, and official residences. The architecture reflects the efficiency of Tokugawa governance. A combo ticket with the Festival Floats Exhibition Hall saves 90 yen. The building showcases traditional tatami rooms and beautiful gardens, offering insight into feudal Japanese administration.
