Inti Punku or the Sun Gate is the historic entrance to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trail. Located at 2,720 meters, it offers the first glimpse of the ancient city for trekkers completing the classic 4-day hike. During the winter solstice, the sun rises directly through the gate. It can be reached from Machu Picchu with a 1-hour uphill walk, offering stunning panoramic views of the citadel below.
