St. James's Church
St. James's Church is the largest church in walled Rothenburg, built between 1311 and 1484. It houses the famous Holy Blood Altar by sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider from circa 1500-1505, a masterpiece of wood carving depicting the Last Supper. The main altar (Twelve Apostles Altar) from 1466 features remarkable paintings by Friedrich Herlin. Originally Catholic, the church became Lutheran in the 16th century.
