Sparrow Hills
Sparrow Hills is a viewing platform overlooking all of Moscow, with Moscow State University behind you and the Moscow River below. Graduates and newlyweds, tourists and lovers all come here. One of the few panoramic views of the city free and accessible around the clock.
What You See
The panorama encompasses central Moscow: the Kremlin, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Stalin-era skyscrapers, and Moscow City in the distance. On a clear day you can see 30 kilometers. Luzhniki Stadium is directly below.
When to Visit
Sunset is classic. The sun descends behind the city, the sky turns pink, lights come on. In summer around 9PM, in winter around 4PM.
What Else
Cable car from Sparrow Hills to Luzhniki. 700 meters above the river. Ski jump nearby. The hillside park is a nature reserve.
Practical Information
Entry is free, 24/7. Parking exists. Metro: Vorobyovy Gory a station on a bridge over the river. From the station to the platform is a 15-minute uphill walk.
