Plaza Grande
Plaza Grande is the historic heart of Mérida, dating back to 1542 when it was founded by the Spanish. It is surrounded by the city's most important landmarks: the Cathedral of San Ildefonso, Palacio de Montejo, and the Government Palace. Every Sunday hosts 'Mercado Domingo' - a vibrant open-air market with food stalls, handmade crafts, and art. In the evening, a light show can be seen on the church facade at 9pm
