Paseo de Montejo
Paseo de Montejo is Mérida's historic main boulevard, stretching about one mile and often called 'Mexico's Champs-Élysées'. It is lined with French-inspired mansions from the 19th and 20th centuries built by henequen barons. The area houses museums like the Anthropology Museum at Palacio Cantón and Casa Museo Montes Molina, plus art galleries and elegant cafes. Sundays the street closes to cars for strolling and cycling
