Plaza 9 de Julio
Plaza 9 de Julio is the main square of Salta city, founded by Spanish explorer Hernando de Lerma in 1582. The plaza features a charming mix of Spanish colonial, baroque, and neo-classical architecture, making it one of the country's most notable historic plazas. Adorned with over 250 trees and historical monuments, it is surrounded by important buildings including the Cathedral of Salta with its striking pink facade and the Cabildo (historic town hall).
