Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve
Pacaya-Samiria is Peru's second-largest protected area and one of the world's largest protected flooded forests. Spanning 2 million hectares, it hosts incredible biodiversity: pink river dolphins, giant river otters, caimans, anacondas, manatees, and over 500 bird species. Known as the 'Jungle of Mirrors' for tree reflections in the still waters. Access is by boat only with local guides from Iquitos or Lagunas. Multi-day expeditions recommended.
