Built directly into a vertical cliff face at 900 meters altitude in the 17th century, this remarkable monastery attracts over 100,000 visitors annually from all faiths. The monastery was founded by Saint Basil of Ostrog, whose relics are preserved in the Upper Monastery and are believed to have miraculous healing powers.
