Markusturm (Marcus Tower)
The Markusturm is one of Rothenburg's oldest towers, dating to 1172 when it was part of the first town wall. It is named after St. Mark, one of the four Evangelists. The tower features its clock and the adjacent Röderbogen (Woodsman's Arch). On top of the tower sits a famous stork's nest. The tower and its neighbor, the White Tower, were entrances to the first town fortifications.
