Les Baux-de-Provence
Les Baux-de-Provence is a spectacular fortified village set atop a rocky outcrop in the Alpilles mountains. The 10th-century castle and its ruins offer panoramic views over the valley and Mediterranean Sea. It was once one of the most powerful lordships in southern France. The castle site displays medieval siege weapons, and jousting shows are held in summer. The village is classified as one of France's most beautiful, with artisan shops and restaurants.
