Juma Mosque
Juma Mosque is the oldest and largest mosque in Khiva, originally built in the 10th century and reconstructed in the 18th century. It features a unique prayer hall without a traditional courtyard, its roof supported by 213 intricately carved wooden columns - some dating back to the 10th century. The columns, crafted from elm and walnut wood, each have unique designs. The shaded hall provided cool refuge from the scorching Central Asian heat for Silk Road travelers. The 33-meter minaret offers panoramic views over Itchan Kala.
