Fudoin Temple
A Buddhist temple housing the Kondo (main hall), the only National Treasure in Hiroshima City. The temple miraculously survived the atomic bomb due to its location on the eastern side of Mount Futabayama. The Kondo was originally constructed in 1540 in Yamaguchi and moved here around 1590. It is the largest surviving example of Karayo (Chinese Zen) architectural style in Japan. Founded in 809 during the Daido era.
