Freedom Monument
Freedom Monument is Latvia's most important national symbol, unveiled in 1935 and standing 42 meters tall. Made of granite, travertine, and copper, it features 56 sculptures in 13 groups across four levels telling Latvia's history. The copper figure 'Liberty' at the top holds three gilded stars representing Latvia's three historical regions: Kurzeme, Vidzeme, and Latgale. Located between the Old Town and the main boulevards, it is the focal point for national celebrations. Funded entirely by private donations from Latvian citizens. Daily honor guard ceremony takes place
