Fontaine-de-Vaucluse
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is home to Europe's largest spring — the source of the Sorgue River. Water emerges from a deep pool at the base of a 230-meter cliff, its true depth still unknown despite multiple exploration attempts. Flow reaching 90 cubic meters per second makes it the world's fifth-largest spring. The poet Petrarch lived here in the 14th century, and museums are dedicated to him and the French Resistance. A 2km shaded walk leads to the spring.
