Dragon's Den
The Dragon's Den is a natural cave beneath Wawel Hill connected to Krakow's most famous legend, the Wawel Dragon. The tunnels extend 276 meters of which 81 meters across three illuminated chambers are open to visitors. The entrance is through a neo-Gothic turret behind the Thieves' Tower on Wawel's defensive wall, and the exit emerges at the foot of the hill by the Vistula River next to the famous fire-breathing bronze dragon statue. The descent involves 135 steps with no elevator. Open seasonally from April to October only. The visit is short at 15-20 minutes and is particularly popular with families
