Free public beach access through Moadto Strip Mall. Resort day-use fees vary: approximately ₱300-500 for pool and beach access at luxury resorts. Some restaurants offer free beach access for dining customers.
November to May (dry season) for the best beach conditions. Visit during high tide for swimming as low tide exposes shallow seagrass areas. Late afternoon (4:00-6:30 PM) is ideal for sunset viewing - Doljo faces west with unobstructed ocean views. Weekdays are quieter than weekends. Avoid rainy season (June-October) when seas can be rough.
From Alona Beach, hire a tricycle for ₱150-200 (about 15-20 minutes). By scooter rental (₱350-500/day), follow the main road heading northwest. The beach is accessible through Moadto Strip Mall which has free parking. Resorts like Modala and Bellevue have their own entrances. For sunset viewing, arrive by 5:00 PM.
A peaceful, uncrowded beach experience compared to Alona. The 3km stretch of fine white sand is dotted with high-end resorts but maintains a natural feel. Excellent snorkeling directly from shore with abundant marine life including sea turtles, colorful fish, and starfish. Beachcombing for shells is popular, especially at low tide. The Moadto Strip Mall adjacent to the beach has restaurants (Buzz Cafe, Giligans, Onami) and souvenir shops. Sunsets here are spectacular with the sun setting directly over the sea.
Free 24/7 access. Quiet 3km beach on northwest Panglao — alternative to touristy Alona Beach. Swimming only at high tide (low tide exposes reef for 250m). Excellent diving and snorkeling. Dry season Nov-Apr. 20 min by tricycle from Panglao airport. Stunning sunset!

It depends on what you are looking for. Doljo Beach is quieter, less developed, and has better snorkeling directly from shore. It is ideal for sunset viewing and peaceful relaxation. Alona Beach offers more restaurants, nightlife, diving shops, and activities but is busier and more touristy. Many visitors enjoy both - staying near Alona for convenience but visiting Doljo for sunset and snorkeling.
Swimming at low tide is not ideal as the water becomes very shallow and exposes seagrass beds. You would need to walk far out to reach swimmable depth. However, low tide is perfect for beachcombing, shell collecting, and observing starfish and other marine life in the tidal pools. Check tide charts and plan swimming for high tide, which typically provides waist to chest-deep water close to shore.
