Entrance Fee

Entrance fee: ₱55 (viewing only) or ₱75 (including swimming in the lagoon). Additional ₱75 if you want to swim. Parking: ₱20. Total for swimming: approximately ₱130.

Best Time to Visit

Visit between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM for the best natural lighting effects when sunbeams penetrate through the cave ceiling. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends. Avoid local holidays when the cave gets very busy. The dry season (November-May) is ideal, though the cave can be visited year-round.

How to Get There

From Alona Beach, hire a tricycle for ₱100-150 (one-way) or ₱200-300 round trip with waiting time. The ride takes about 10 minutes. The cave is well-signposted. You can also rent a scooter (₱350-500/day) and ride yourself. Most Panglao countryside tours include Hinagdanan Cave as a stop.

What to Expect

Descend concrete stairs into the cave (the original bamboo ladder has been replaced). Inside, you'll find a cathedral-like chamber with stalactites hanging from the ceiling and stalagmites rising from the floor. The warm underground lagoon (about waist-deep in most areas) is available for swimming. The water temperature is comfortable year-round. Expect slippery surfaces near the water. Facilities include basic restrooms and a small souvenir shop. The visit typically takes 30-45 minutes.

Yes! Swimming is allowed for an additional ₱75 fee (total ₱130 with entrance). The underground lagoon has warm, crystal-clear water and is about waist-deep in most areas. Life vests may be available for rent. The water is clean but surfaces can be slippery, so be careful when entering.

Yes, the cave is safe for most visitors. The descent uses sturdy concrete stairs with handrails. However, surfaces near the water can be slippery, so wear appropriate footwear (water shoes are ideal). The cave is not recommended for those with severe mobility issues due to the stairs. Lighting is natural and adequate during daytime hours.
