Diamond District
Antwerp's Diamond District is the world center of diamond trade - over 80% of the world's rough diamonds are processed here and 50% of cut diamonds are traded. Located near Central Station, this small quarter houses over 1,500 diamond companies and 4 diamond exchanges. The Orthodox Jewish character is visible on the streets as these communities have dominated the trade for centuries. Visit DIVA diamond museum to learn how diamonds are cut and the industry's history. You can watch jewelers work through workshop windows. Security is tight, with cameras everywhere and police patrols.
