Design Zavod (former Flacon)
Design Zavod Flacon is a creative cluster on the territory of a former crystal-glass factory, one of the first such projects in Moscow. Today it's a space for creative industries, uniting design studios, galleries, shops, and public areas.
History of the Place
The glass factory operated here since 1841, producing perfume bottles - hence the name Flacon. In 2009, the territory gained new life as a creative cluster. Industrial buildings were adapted into offices and public spaces while preserving industrial aesthetics.
Architectural Environment
The complex combines 19th-century historic buildings with modern interventions. Brick buildings, high ceilings, and large windows create a characteristic atmosphere. The courtyard space has been transformed into a pedestrian zone with street art and seating areas.
Residents
Over 200 companies operate on the territory: design studios, architectural bureaus, creative agencies, showrooms, educational projects. Offices of famous Russian designers and independent ateliers are located here.
Shops and Showrooms
Flacon is a place for those seeking unusual items: designer clothing, handmade jewelry, interior items from local designers. Concept stores offer selections from independent Russian brands.
Cultural Program
Regular markets, festivals, lectures, and workshops take place. Summer open-air cinema screenings, garage sales, and themed fairs attract city residents. Educational programs cover design, art, and business.
Gastronomy
Cafes and restaurants of various concepts operate on the territory - from specialty coffee shops to gastro bars. Street food is available in warm months. A food court unites several establishments with different cuisines.
How to Get There
Nearest metro is Dmitrovskaya or Savyolovskaya, 10 minutes walk. The territory is open daily, free entry. Resident hours vary.
Atmosphere and Features
Flacon is a place for leisurely walks and shopping. It's comfortable to work in cafes, search for gifts, and get inspired here. The space especially comes alive on weekends when markets are held. Can be combined with a visit to nearby Artplay or Winzavod.
