Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary is Russia's largest Catholic church, built in neo-Gothic style. The majestic red brick building rises in central Moscow, serving as the spiritual center for Catholics across the country.
History of the Cathedral
The cathedral was built in 1901-1911 according to the design of architect Tomasz Bohdanowicz-Dworzecki. Construction was financed by Moscow's Polish Catholic community. During Soviet times, the building was used as a dormitory, then as a research institute. In 1996, the cathedral was returned to believers.
