Butchers Bridge
The Butchers Bridge (Mesarski most) is a modern footbridge completed in 2010, realizing a 1930s vision by architect Joze Plecnik. Spanning the Ljubljanica River between the Central Market and Petkovsek Embankment, this 33-meter glass and steel bridge functions as a square over water. The bridge is famous for its quirky bronze sculptures by artist Jakov Brdar, including Prometheus and figures with exposed organs referencing the historic butcher shops that once stood nearby.
