Augustusplatz is one of Germany's largest squares, featuring some of Leipzig's most significant buildings. Created in 1785 and rebuilt after World War II, it is surrounded by the Opera House, Gewandhaus concert hall, the historic Kroch-Haus, and Leipzig University. The square serves as the cultural heart of the city.
