Atomic Bomb Dome
The Atomic Bomb Dome is the only structure left standing near the hypocenter of the nuclear explosion on August 6, 1945. Originally the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, this skeletal ruin has been preserved as a stark reminder of the devastation. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, it stands as a symbol of peace and a memorial to over 140,000 victims.
