Best Time to Visit

Dry season (December to May) offers the best beach weather with calm seas, perfect for diving and snorkeling. Peak tourist season is December to February - book accommodations in advance. Early morning (6:00-8:00 AM) provides the quietest beach experience before day-trippers arrive. Sunset (5:00-6:30 PM) is magical for dining and watching the sky transform. Avoid June to November during typhoon season when seas can be rough.

How to Get There

From Bohol-Panglao International Airport: 4 km, approximately 6-15 minutes. Southern Star Bus Transit hourly buses (₱120-170). Taxi (₱130-160). Tricycle (₱150-200). From Tagbilaran City: 18 km, approximately 30-40 minutes by taxi/tricycle. Most resorts offer airport transfers. From the ferry port: Take a taxi or arrange resort pickup.

What to Expect

A lively 1 km stretch of white sand beach lined with resorts, restaurants, and dive shops. Crystal-clear waters with excellent snorkeling directly from the shore at the house reef. World-class diving with easy access to Balicasag Island Marine Sanctuary (30-45 min boat ride). Beachfront dining options ranging from local seafood BBQ to international cuisine. Vibrant nightlife with fire dancing performances, live bands, and beach bars. Expect crowds during peak season - arrive early for prime beach spots. Vendors may approach selling souvenirs and massage services. Swimming is best during high tide; low tide reveals rocky sections.

faq.title

faq.subtitle Alona Beach

Alona Beach is Panglao's most popular and developed beach, so it can get crowded especially during peak season (December-February) and weekends. For a quieter experience, visit during weekday mornings or consider nearby alternatives like Dumaluan Beach. The beach is about 1 km long, so there is usually space to find your spot, but prime areas near restaurants fill up quickly.
