Not recommended. At least 2 days for main museums and Art Houses. Staying overnight allows evening village experience and Chichu at sunset.
Yes! Chichu Art Museum requires advance online booking. Lee Ufan Museum also recommended on weekends and during Setouchi Triennale.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November) ideal. Setouchi Triennale (every 3 years) is special but crowded. Avoid rainy season (June) and hot August.
Useful tips for visiting Naoshima
Book Chichu Art Museum online at benesse-artsite.jp at least a week ahead. Tickets sell out fast!
Rent an electric bike instead of regular - the island has hills and you'll save energy for museums.
Bring your own food or eat early - food options are limited and restaurants close early.
Museums closed on Mondays (or Tuesdays if Monday is a holiday). Plan your visit accordingly.
Bring enough cash - no ATMs on the island and few places accept cards.
