Dubovica Beach is one of Croatia's most beautiful secluded beaches located 10 km east of Hvar Town. This hidden cove with turquoise crystal-clear water and white pebbles is surrounded by pine-covered hillsides, and an old stone house adds extra charm to the scenery. Reaching the beach requires a 15-20 minute walk down a steep rocky path from the roadside parking lot. Sturdy shoes are recommended as flip-flops are not suitable. Konoba Dubovica, a traditional tavern right on the beach, serves fresh seafood from May to October and is cash-only. There are no other facilities, so bring your own water, snacks, and all beach supplies. The beach can also be reached by boat from Hvar harbor

Fast catamarans from Split (1 hour) or car ferry from Drvenik to Sucuraj. Book early in summer as ferries fill up quickly.
June and September for ideal weather and reasonable prices. July-August is very hot, crowded, and expensive. May is good for fewer crowds but water is cooler.
Hvar is one of Croatia's most expensive destinations. Prices are significantly higher than mainland, especially in peak summer. Budget travelers can save by staying in Stari Grad instead of Hvar Town.
Not necessary for Hvar Town which is walkable. Useful for exploring the island. Scooters are a popular and cheaper alternative. Parking in Hvar Town is very limited and expensive.
Very safe. Crime is rare. Watch for pickpockets in crowded tourist areas. Main concerns are sunburn and sea urchins when swimming.
Useful tips for visiting Hvar
Book ferries early in summer - they fill up fast, especially on weekends. Jadrolinija website has the best prices.
Visit the lavender fields in June-July when they are in full bloom. The lavender festival is held in late June.
Avoid Hvar's main square for dining - overpriced. Head to side streets for better value. Try konobas in Stari Grad for authentic local food.
Rent a boat to reach Pakleni Islands for secluded beaches and crystal-clear water. Water taxis are also available.
Bring water shoes - beaches are rocky and sea urchins are common. Most beaches are pebble, not sand.
Stari Grad is cheaper and quieter than Hvar Town - a good budget alternative with UNESCO-listed Stari Grad Plain nearby.
