Monterosso is the largest Cinque Terre village and the only one with a real sandy beach. It is divided into an old town with narrow streets and a new town with hotels and beachfront restaurants. Its famous landmark is the giant Neptune statue (Il Gigante) carved into the rock. The perfect place to relax after hiking the other villages.

Buy Cinque Terre Card online in advance via MyPass app - skip station queues.
Start hiking early (7-8 AM) to avoid crowds and heat. Popular Sentiero Azzurro trail gets crowded by afternoon.
Book accommodation months ahead for summer - villages are tiny with limited options. Consider La Spezia or Levanto for budget.
Wear proper hiking shoes - trails are rocky and steep. Sandals are dangerous!
Try local specialties: Ligurian focaccia, pesto Genovese, Monterosso anchovies, Sciacchetrà wine.
Best sunset from Manarola - classic view of colorful village. Grab a spot on the rocks early.
