The Royal Palace (Kungliga slottet) is the official residence of the Swedish monarch and one of Europes largest palaces with over 600 rooms. Built in Baroque style after the old castle burned down in 1697, it contains five museums including the Royal Apartments, the Treasury with crown jewels, the Armoury, the Tre Kronor Museum (about the medieval castle), and the Museum of Antiquities. The daily Changing of the Guard ceremony is a popular attraction.
