莫斯科大清真寺
Moscow Cathedral Mosque is one of Europe's largest mosques and Russia's main Muslim temple. The majestic building in the capital's center can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers and serves as a spiritual center for Muslims from across the country.
History
The first mosque on this site was built in 1904. The new mosque opened in 2015, preserving the historic section while greatly expanding the area. Blue domes with golden ornaments are visible from afar. The 72-meter minaret is topped with a crescent.
Visiting
The mosque is open to tourists during hours free from prayers. Dress code must be observed: covered clothing, women must cover their heads. Tours can be booked in advance.
How to Get There
Nearest metro is Prospekt Mira. The mosque is a 5-minute walk away. Nearby are Aptekarsky Ogorod and the Cosmonautics Museum.
