Kale Fortress (Skopsko Kale) is a historic fortress dominating the skyline of Skopje from a hilltop above the Old Bazaar. Dating back to the 6th century Byzantine era with later Ottoman additions, the fortress offers panoramic views over the city, the Vardar River, and distant mountains. Archaeological excavations continue to reveal artifacts from various periods of occupation.
