Hipogeu de Ħal Saflieni
The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the only known prehistoric underground temple in the world. Dating back to approximately 4000 BC, this subterranean complex was carved entirely from rock and spans three levels reaching 10 meters below ground. Originally a sanctuary, it later became a necropolis holding remains of over 7,000 individuals. Only 80 visitors are permitted daily to preserve this unique site.
