Cidade Livre de Christiania
Freetown Christiania is a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood founded in 1971 by squatters on a former military barracks. Home to about 1,000 residents, this anarchist commune features colorful street art, alternative architecture, organic restaurants, and a unique community governed by its own rules. In 2024, the controversial Pusher Street officially closed following community and government agreement, marking a new chapter for this counterculture landmark.
